Mission
The mission of the PEHSU program is to:
- Reduce environmental health threats to children,
- Improve access to expertise in pediatric environmental medicine, and,
- Strengthen public health prevention capacity.
The primary means of accomplishing this mission include education, consultation, referral, advocacy, research, and networking.
Goals and objectives
- Provide pediatric environmental health consultation through a toll-free telephone line
- Participate in multidisciplinary research studies, publish case studies, and report sentinel events to the appropriate agencies
- Advocate for environmental health policies that protect children and provide objective information to the media on controversial issues
- Network with government agencies and other professional organizations to promote children’s environmental health
- Deliver educational presentations and other materials to a wide variety of audiences
